Even The Best Cars Won’t Be Good Enough If They Don’t Meet The Drivers’ Needs.
There are a few simple steps that we can take to help us reach the right decision in our purchase of the best cars easier. Let’s go through each of them in a little more details.
Determine your needs from your best cars.
Think about where you are in life currently. Are you single, married, or married with kids? Where do you see yourself 5 years from now? What are your hobbies? What is your work? What is your life style? Where do you live, in the city or in the suburb? And most importantly, what is your income? These are some of the most basic questions that will help uncover your present and future needs, towards getting your desired best cars.

For example, let’s make up a typical singlehood profile nowadays. Being a single, young (mid 20’s to mid 30’s) executive, who enjoys clubbing and sports activities, living in the city most of the time, and earning a decent income, say > $60k per annum. The aesthetic appeal of the vehicle will probably be your top consideration, followed by engine performance, vehicle handling, safety features, reliability, fuel economy and of course vehicle price that falls within your budget. You may opt for a 2-door sports coupe with modern design, coupled with great engine performance and vehicle handling, such as the BMW 3 Series Convertible or the Audi A5 Cabriolet. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast, you may want an SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), that is more versatile and with more cargo space for your sports equipment. A probable choice of SUV could be the Hyundai Santa Fe, or BMW X3.
However, if you’re married with kids, your needs could be completely different. Safety features, cabin space and ride comfort may be your top priorities. A sedan or station wagon with lots of cabin and cargo space maybe your top choice of best cars. If you have a small family, you may even consider a small family hatch back with great fuel economy, safety features, comfortable ride, adequate cabin and cargo space for your day to day needs. For example the Toyota Prius, or the Volkswagen Golf (aka Rabbit in North America) maybe a viable choice.
How much can you afford to spend on your best Cars?
The cost of buying a new car comprises of the down payment and the monthly payment. Down payment is the lump sum of money that you must pay up front. The recommended percentage is at least 20% of the vehicle price. A higher down payment means lesser money that borrowed, which then lowers your monthly payments and reduces overall amount of interest paid for the car loan. Monthly payment refers to the recurring payment that you have to pay every month if you borrow money. A basic guideline for monthly car payment is that it should not exceed 1/4 of your monthly gross income.

How to finance your chosen best cars?
Basically there are 3 options when it comes to financing your car. You can buy it with full cash payment, get a car loan or lease the vehicle from a leasing company. Most people may not have the luxury of the first option, so we’ll just focus on the last 2 options.
Generally, the monthly payments of leasing are lower than that of a car loan, as you never get to own the car but merely “leasing” it. Leasing seems simpler and more hassle-free, since you get to enjoy the most trouble free first 2-5 years of a car, and need not have to worry about the trade-in value or how to sell your old car. Once you are done leasing the vehicle, you simply bring it back to the dealership and lease another new vehicle. It’s that straightforward!
If you are single, young, financially sound, and enjoys driving the latest models of vehicles, leasing could be your best option. However, if you are married and with kids, thus with more financial liabilities, you may want to get a reliable car that can last you 5-10years to get the most out of it. If that’s case, then getting a car loan is a more suitable choice, as you own the car once it’s paid off, and can continue to drive it as long as it’s not giving you problem in the years to come. That way, the total cost of car ownership will be much lower and you get the most bangs out of your bucks.

Choose your vehicle type of your best cars.
In general, the vehicle type (or body style) that you choose largely depends on your needs for passenger space and cargo space. If you are single, you probably can do away with a 2-door coupe or a 2-door convertible, which usually offers more fun to drive at the expense of ride comfort. The rear seats will be able to accommodate 2 passengers, but they may need to bend and twist just to get into that confined seating area, as the leg room maybe restricted. Also, cargo space is usually smaller than the sedan equivalent, but most coupes or convertibles’ trunk should still be able to accommodate 1-2 golf bags, or even 3-4 big suitcases without any problem.
The sedan or station wagon is more suitable if you have a family with 1 or 2 kids. Either vehicle type provides ample passenger and cargo space for your daily needs. A hatchback is a also a popular choice for small family. It is usually a smaller car (shorter in length) compared to a standard sedan, but it has more interior space for passenger and cargo than the sedan equivalent. Furthermore, it often comes with fold-able rear seats, which allows you to enlarge your cargo space with the seats folded down, when you need to carry some over-sized or extra-long items. That said, the rear hatch design also makes it easier to load and unload large items.

Best cars must come with adequate safety features.
A crucial but often overlooked aspect of vehicle purchase is the vehicle safety features. This consists of Active Safety and Passive Safety features. The former refers to automotive technology in the prevention of a crash, while the latter refers to the components and design of the vehicle that helps to protect the occupants in the event of a crash. Both are essential and paramount for the safety and survival of the occupants of a vehicle.
Examples of Active Safety features are Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS) and Traction Control Systems (TCS). All these features help the vehicle from getting out of control and thus help to prevent a crash.
Common Passive Safety features include Airbags, Seat-belts, Crumple zones (which helps to absorb and dissipate the force during a collision), Laminated windshield (which helps to hold the windshield in one piece during collision), and ISOFIX or LATCH (“Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children” in the United States) points for Child Safety seats (which enables the fitting of child safety seats in cars quickly and properly, so as to ensure maximum protection for child occupants).
Premium cars from Branded car manufacturers may have other more sophisticated Active and Passive safety features to entice customers who are more safety-conscious. However, I would recommend that a vehicle of choice should at least have these safety features of ABS, ESC, 4-6 Airbags, and ISOFIX points (if you have kids). Remember, when it comes to safety, you should not settle for less. The best cars should come with the best safety features.

Test Drive The Best Cars You’ve Shortlisted At The Dealerships.
The last step in finding the best cars, which is the most crucial one, is to get the first hand experience on the cars you’ve shortlisted. Visiting a dealership in your town or city, and get a test drive on the best cars you desire. Check out the vehicles’ exterior, and make sure it appeals to you outwardly. Touch and feel the materials that make up the dashboard and the rest of the car interior. Pay attention to the build quality both interior and exterior. Make sure the seats are comfortable enough for your daily use and there is enough leg room for passengers at the rear seats. Also, adjust the steering wheel and driver seat, make sure you can get a comfortable driving position. Get a feel for the vehicle handling and stability during fast cornering. And if you have to chauffeur people around most of the time, try to be a passenger at the rear seats while you get someone behind the wheel, so that you can experience and evaluate the ride quality first hand for your passengers (most likely your elderly parents or young children), which is especially crucial during long journeys. To me, the best cars should also be cars that are both fun to drive and comfortable to sit in as passengers.
